Another great GNU Health training was delivered by the UNU-IIGH on October 23-24, 2012.
This time, 47 people from the Ministry of Health Malaysia, public and private hospitals, universities as well as non-governmental organisations attended the courses (see more).

Once again, we are very proud and happy to see how GNU Health and Free Software are adopted in Public Health. 
Thanks to our partners from the UNU-IIGH for their commitment with Free Software in healthcare !

I am happy to announce the release of GNU Health 1.6.4 ! This version brings many improvements, especially in the Obstetrics and Nursing modules. A quick summary :

Gynecology and Obstetrics module

La Universidad de Naciones Unidas con el Instituto Internacional para la Salud Global (UNU-IIGH) ha llevado a cabo otra capacitación de GNU Health en el marco del seminario “Free Software Hospital Information System Development Workshop”.

El curso se ha impartido con gran éxito durante la semana del 10 al 14 de Septiembre en la Universidad de Naciones Unidas, en Malasia. Han participado representantes de Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Filipinas, Camboya, Tayikistán, Sudán, Kenia y Marruecos.

Este evento ha sido organizado en cooperación con el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Malasia. Desde el sitio oficial de UNU-IIGH: “Este programa está en línea con el objetivo de la UNU-IIGH, que es la difusión de información y el fomento de capacidades en países en vías de desarrollo, hacia el logro de los Objetivos del Desarrollo del Milenio, entre los cuales se encuentra la accesibilidad a una asistencia sanitaria de calidad para todos”.
Estoy muy feliz de ver como progresa el uso de GNU Health y del Software Libre en la Salud Pública. Gracias a nuestros partners desde el UNU-IIGH por el compromiso con el Software Libre en la asistencia sanitaria, ya que el Software Libre proporciona la libertad y la sostenibilidad para el cuidado de la salud, sin importar el estatus económico.

GNU Health workshop at the United Nations for African and Asian countries

The United Nations International Institute for Global Health UNU-IIGH – have sucessfully delivered another GNU Health training, in their “Free Software Hospital Information System Development Workshop” .
The workshop was held during September 10-14th, at the the United Nations University facilities in Malaysia. There were delegates from Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Philippines, Cambodia, Tajikistan, Sudan, Kenya and Morrocco.
This event has been in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia. From UNU IIGH website, “This programme is in line with UNU-IIGH’s goal of information dissemination and capacity building in developing countries towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, among which is accessible quality healthcare for everyone”

I’m very happy to see the increasing adoption GNU Health and Free Software in public Health. Thanks to our partners from the UNU-IIGH for their commitment with Free Software in healthcare, because Free Software provides freedom and sustainability to health care, no matter their economic status.

El pasado 31 de agosto, el equipo de GNU Health (Luis Falcón, Sebastián Marró e Ignacio Parszyk) fue invitado a dar una charla en el Encuentro de Salud Pública: Información para la toma de decisiones, en la FI-UNER en Oro Verde, Ente Ríos. 
El objetivo del encuentro era presentar experiencias en el manejo de datos e información sanitaria en los distintos niveles de atención de la salud. 
En el evento participaron más de 200 personas entre profesionales, personal docente y alumnos de la facultad. Para nosotros fue un honor poder presentar GNU Health y compartir nuestra experiencia.

En los días previos a la conferencia tuvimos la ocasión de visitar diferentes Hospitales y Centros de Salud así como reunirnos con profesionales de la salud y del ministerio. Se conversó sobre la posibilidad de integrar los sistemas actuales con GNU Health e impulsar el Software Libre en la Salud Pública en la región.

Hoy Entre Ríos es un punto de referencia en el impulso para la adopción del Software Libre en Salud Pública, brindando equidad y universalidad en salud a sus habitantes.
Queremos agradecer la invitación y hospitalidad a todo el equipo y en especial a: Bioing. Fernando L. Sassetti (Facultad de Ingeniería – Bioingeniería & Bioinformática, UNER) Bioing. José A. Giacopuzzi (Director Bioingeniería Ministerio de Salud Gobierno de Entre Ríos), Lic. Darío Reisenauer (Departamento Informática, Ministerio de Salud Gobierno de Entre Ríos).
Les recuerdo que el 16 de octubre en la 1ª Conferencia Nacional de e-Salud en Buenos Aires – CISL2012, tendremos ocasión de debatir estrategias para que las administraciones públicas y los gobiernos adopten el Software Libre en la Salud Pública.

We are proud to announce the release of GNU Health 1.6.3. This version brings major improvements in the hospital information system, both from the administrative and patient management. Here is a quick summary of the main changes :

** Features **
  • Patient Nutrition management. Complex combinations that take into account therapeutics, pre-existing conditions, surgeries, lifestyles,
  • vegetarianism and other belief-based diets.
  • Inpatient medication medication and history log
  • New nursing module
  • Nursing roundings ( evaluations, procedures, medications … )
  • New user profiles (doctors, nurses, clerks, …)
  • New appointment reports
  • Improved standard security profiles
  • The translation project is now entirely done from Transifex, so the health center will install only the languages they need
  • Revised and improved look and feel, from views to icons
  • Many models datafiles ( medicaments, WHO essential meds, .. ) can be now modified from the client.
  • Improve installation scripts and Archlinux support
  • Improve search patient methods
  • Bugfixes

Primera Conferencia Nacional de e-Salud

Por tercer año consecutivo, en la ciudad de Buenos Aires (Argentina), se celebrará la Conferencia Internacional del Software Libre: CISL

Este año, en el marco de los eventos organizados en la CISL 2012,  GNU Solidario, con el patrocinio de Thymbra, ha sido invitada a organizar la 1ª Conferencia Nacional de e-Salud.
Queremos agradecer la posibilidad de utilizar este espacio para poder intercambiar las diferentes experiencias y crear nuevas estrategias para que los gobiernos de todos los países adopten, cada vez más, el Software Libre para la gestión de la salud publica. 
Me gustaría recordarles que la base del trabajo de GNU Solidario es la siguiente:

Proporcionar  salud y educación con Software Libre. La salud y la educación son la base para el desarrollo y la dignidad de las sociedades. Luis Falcón

Esta tarde GNU Solidario ha recibido en sus oficinas de Buenos Aires la visita del Bioingeniero José Giacopuzzi (Dirección de Bioingeniería) y del Licenciado Dario Reisenauer (Departamento Informática) del Ministerio de Salud de Entre Ríos.
Durante la charla, Luis Falcón y Sebastián Marró presentaron GNU Health, el sistema de Gestión Hospitalaria y de Salud de Software Libre. 
Ha sido un placer conocerlos y presentarles nuestro trabajo. Estamos muy contentos por el interés mostrado en GNU Health por los representantes del Ministerio de Salud de Entre Ríos !
