Estoy contento de anunciar que la Academia GNU Health  se estrenará el próximo 27 de Junio 2011 con un anfitrión muy especial: United Nations University (UNU), en Kuala Lumpur.

La UNU International Institute for Global Health (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) lleva a cabo la investigación, el desarrollo de capacidad y la difusión de conocimiento relacionada a temas claves de la salud humana.  El objetivo es contribuir con el desarrollo y el refuerzo de marcos de servicios de salud y medidas de política de gestión, particularmente para las personas en países en desarrollo y para apoyar la implementación del enfoque preventivo y de promoción para la salud humana [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_University ]

Estaré formando el personal de la UNU, que es nuestro partner en Asia. La UNU – IIGH se encargará de formar los profesionales de la salud locales en el uso de GNU Health, el Sistema libre de Gestión Hospitalaria y de Información de Salud.

Como he dicho en otro blog, este es otro ejemplo de como el Software Libre puede aprovechar los recursos para ayudar los países en desarrollo. Mi agradecimiento al Sr. Nurhizam Safie Mohd Satar, quien encabeza el proyecto de integración de GNU Health (AKA Medical) en United Nations University – International Institute for Global Health (IIGH).

Este esfuerzo en común aumentará el numero de médicos utilizando el Software Libre y todos nos aprovecharemos de sus valiosos comentarios.

First GNU Health Academia in United Nations University

I’m happy to announce that the GNU Health Academy will be inaugurated next June 27th 2011 with a very special host, the United Nations University (UNU), in Kuala Lumpur.

The UNU International Institute for Global Health (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) undertakes research, capacity development and dissemination of knowledge related to key issues of human health. The aim is to contribute to the development and strengthening of health services policy frameworks and management actions, particularly for people in developing countries, and to support implementation of promotive and preventive approach to human health [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_University ]

I will be training the UNU personnel, which are our local partners in Asia. The UNU – IIGH will train local health proffessionals in the use of GNU Health, the Free Health and Hospital Information System.

As I said in a previous post, this is another example of how free software can leverage the resources to help the developing countries. Many thanks to Mr Nurhizam Safie Mohd Satar who is leading the MEDICAL integration project at the United Nations University – International Institute for Global Health (IIGH).

This common effort will increase the amount of physicians using Free Software, and we will all benefit with their valuable feedback.
